The 2022 Ladder

Winding up 2022 for the youngsters

Overall another very successful year for the Juniors. The youth have shown they are capable of some great results and wear the Trentham Harriers singlet with pride. It really shows out there too - you all represent the spirit of Trenthan Harriers so well. Darryl is super proud. We cannot thank Darryl enough for his coaching of our kids, and to the parents who support him with this.

Saturday 10 December 2022
Wai2k 2022

This gruelling event is not for the faint hearted. Several Trentham Harriers competed across 46km, 60km or 100km ultra distances. Josh took out the 100km race again and our legend Brian made it two years in a row getting lost on Norbert! Second place by only a few minutes... le sigh. Some very sore bodies the next day after many many hours battling the trails, hills, mud and rivers. The crew this year: Bethany, Brian, Gary, Hugh, Josh, Scott, Shar and Stephen.

Saturday 12 November 2022
Remutaka Rail Trail 2022

Our annual Remutaka Rail Trail fun run and walk was a great day out for those who braved the weather. Big thank you to Tania and all her team of volunteers - this event does not happen without many helping hands and sponsors. We've had lots of positive feedback about the event which we are very thankful for. Many of the comments were how helpful and welcoming the volunteers were, which made for a great relaxed atmosphere. Some of our harriers came away with PBs too, great job. We look forward to doing it all again next year.

NZ Road Relay Champs 2022

Congratulations to the Junior Men Trentham United Harrier team placing second in the NZ Road Relay Champs.

Callum, Daniel, Findlay, Hassan, Joshua and Max ran an outstanding race to earn the silver medal. Very impressive for such a young team too.

Auckland Marathon

Our club president Philip Secker took first place in the M55-59 category, and 132nd overall in 3:14:35. A mighty fast time and fantastic result Philip. Boston next year maybe...?

Saturday 22 October 2022
Outfoxed Backyard Ultra

Outfoxed Backyard Ultra is a free self supported 24 hour running event set on a 400 acre farm in Te Awanga, Hawkes Bay. It's pretty simple really. Every hour, on the hour, you run 1 lap of a 6.7km course. And you do this for 24 hours... Our own trail fanatic Josh won the event, congrats Josh!

Saturday 24 September 2022
Mangaroa Circuit
Lane Street

The final event of the running ladder on a wet spring day. A handicapped event based off predicted times - we ended up with a 50-50 split going under or over theirs.

Big congratulations to Tom Poland first across the line, Kayo second and Bethany third.

The Masters Men had everything to run for with several in contention for topping the ladder this season. Two runners in particular, Stephen and Kevin pushed very hard on their circuit both working hard to chase down those in front. When the dust settled we ended up with a tie at the top of the ladder!! We're pondering a chili eating competiton for a tie breaker... :)

Full results of the race can be found here

Rhys Mair Memorial Trail Champs for Runners
King & Queen of the Mountain for Walkers
Clubrooms, Trentham Memorial Park

Runners hit one of our great trail options, Keith George Memorial Park for the club trail champs. Some technical single trail and sharp hill work, its a tough little course. We had our biggest turn out for this event yet. There were some great battles within the race, some folks pushing a little too hard taking tumbles in there. Nothing too serious but a good reminder that our backyard trails aren't to be underestimated.

Timed results are here.

Click here for the age adjusted results...

Walkers pushed to the top of Riverstone Terrace, an unusual race being such a steep and long hill. Some close times within the group made for good racing.

What a day for Trentham United Harriers. With 16 teams entered (one more than last year), this is a record for the club and highlights how much we are growing in numbers and strength. As for the racing, we had some stunning team and individual results.

The U14 Girls also claimed victory in their event.

As far as individual efforts, Thomas Strawbridge recorded the fastest lap of the entire day with a rapid 6:15.1!! Madison Wos recorded the fastest individual time in the U14 Girls field, and Stephen Mair the fastest individual time in the MM60+ field.
