Club Race Details

Mad Dash Relay

This is a fun event at the start of the season for members to get to know each other. Teams are randomly picked on the day with a spread of ages. The course is 1km around the field by the club rooms in Trentham Memorial Park.

The aim is to introduce new runners to cross country:

Held around Trentham Memorial Park. The course generally consists of grass, bush track, stopbanks and creek crossings.
All races are mass start, the winners of each race is the first to cross the line.
PLEASE NOTE: Age is your age as at 31 December, OR in the case of Masters, age on the day of the event.

Approximate race distances for the age grades are:

Under 7 ~ 500m
Under 10 1 to 1.2km
Under 12 2 to 2.4km
Under 14, Under 16 & Under 18 4 to 4.5km
Walkers 4 to 4.5km
Under 20, Senior & Masters Women 6 to 6.5km
Under 20, Senior & Masters Men 8 to 8.5km

Trentham United Trophy for Under 18

Steve Plowman Trophy for U12

Held around Trentham Memorial Park. The course generally consists of grass, bush track, stop-banks and creek crossings. These are handicap races, everyone has their time predicted prior to the race by the handicapper and participants start at different times (slowest start first, fastest person starts last) with the goal being that everyone should finish at the same time. First person across the line wins!

Eric Putter Memorial Relay

A road relay with each team consisting of runners and walkers of different ages. Entrants must pre-register so that teams of 5 or 6 are put together with the aim that they all finish at the same time.

The following age groups distances and courses are used:

Under 14 2.5km 1 long lap + 1 short lap of the 2023 5k series course
Walkers 2.5km 1 long lap + 1 short lap of the 2023 5k series course
14 and over 3.2km 2 long laps of the 2023 5k series course





King and Queen of the Mountain

This is a Race Walk event, starting from the clubrooms to the top of Grace Nicholls Grove in Riverstone Terraces, mostly sealed road/footpath.

Each walker has their time predicted prior to the race by the handicapper and participants start at different times (slowest start first, fastest person starts last) with the goal being that everyone should finish at the same time.
First male and first female across the line wins!



Rhys Mair Memorial Trail Champs

The Trail Champs course starts and finishes on the Hutt river trail at the end of County Lane. Competitors cross the bridge over the Hutt River then proceed north along the river trail for 200m before entering a culvert which passes under SH2. The course continues along well marked bush trails in a loop before returning through the culvert and back to the finish line.

It is a mass-start event.

After the race the times are adjusted for age and gender using recognised factors. The winner of the trophy is the person with the quickest adjusted time.

Distance is 6.4km.
Minimum age is 14 years.

Sanders & Gough

This is a cross country event with a long history, contested by Trentham United Harriers, Hutt Valley Harriers and Masterton. Click here for the rules.



Club Road Championships

Starts and finishes at the club room in Trentham Memorial Park. It is an out-and-back over the stop bank into Moonshine Park and towards Monnshine Road.

Mangaroa Circuit

Starts and finishes in Lane Street, near the bottom of Wallaceville Hill.
Everyone has their time predicted prior to the race by the handicapper and participants start at different times (slowest start first, fastest person starts last) with the goal being that everyone should finish at the same time.

Winners of the Men’s & Women’s races is the first across the line.

Distance is 13.9km.
Minimum age is 16 years.
